Management of sinusitis

Situation

A 51-year-old female patient was referred to the clinic. Severe sinusitis has occurred from #27.

Pre-operative Panorama

From the CT scan, the sinus was filled with fluid, and pus with foul odor came out of the patient’s nose.

5mm small vertical incision was made on the buccal side of the #26.

A small hole was made into the sinus above the implant apex with a round bur.

A 20 gauge needle was connected to a 10cc syringe, and the needle was inserted into the sinus cavity for aspiration.

Approximately 8cc of pus was extracted.

Saline was inserted into the sinus, and the process was repeated 3-4 times, until clean water was extracted.

1g of cephalosporin was diluted with 1.5cc of saline.

The antibiotic was injected into the sinus directly. This procedure was repeated every day for 3-4 days until the sinus became clean.
